Woodhurst Parish Plan
YOUR CHANCE TO SHAPE THE FUTURE OF WOODHURST

What is a Parish Plan?

A Parish Plan is a project which is undertaken to find out what the issues are in a village. It is all about finding out what concerns people, what aspects of village life people value and what they would like to see happen in the future.

But why should we do this Parish Plan?

Many things in the village require outside support from other partners be it support in terms of expertise, time or money. Many funding bodies require evidence of need for the project which you are seeking money for. A parish plan provides that evidence which could mean the difference of receiving grant funding or not receiving it. A Parish Plan is also a requirement for the Parish Council to achieve Quality Council Status.

How will this be done ?

Your Parish Plan Committee is encouraging everyone to have their say on any aspect of village life. We will shortly be holding informal focus groups to understand what the important issues in the village are. These groups will form the basis for a more detailed questionnaire to be drawn up and sent out to every household.

What should I do ?

You can register your interest in attending a focus group by filling in your details on one of the forms nearby, by emailing here or by contacting one of the committee members listed below.

Who pays for the Parish Plan ?

The Parish Council has received a grant for the Parish Plan from Cambridgeshire ACRE and DEFRA. Although the Parish Council sets up the Parish Plan Committee, it is NOT run by the Parish Council and the work and findings of the Parish Plan are independent of the Parish Council, although some of the Parish Plan committee are Parish Councillors.

When will we see the results ?

We are hoping to issue the questionnaire in the New Year following consultations with the Parish Council, The Church and the Village Hall committee as well as any other interested parties. After the questionnaires have been collected and analysed, we will then work on an action plan which will involve identifying realistic goals within the village and who is best placed to take responsibility for actions to achieve those goals. The Parish plan is meant to be a long term plan, so things won’t happen overnight, but with actions and responsibilities in place, everyone can see what the village wants and needs and what is realistically achievable.

Who are the Parish Plan Committee ?

The Chairman is Gary Davis, and the secretary is Tony Reynolds. Other members are Avril Mayall, Shirley Firth, Annabel Armstrong, Andy Notman and Alistair Marr. Please contact any of them if you want to volunteer for the focus group or want more information about the Woodhurst Parish Plan.
