This privacy policy explains how the Woodhurst Info Alexa skill (“the skill”, “we”, “our”) handles information when you use it. Please read it carefully. By enabling and using the skill, you agree to the practices described below.
Who we are
The Woodhurst Info skill is a community skill providing local information about the village of Woodhurst, Cambridgeshire, including events, bin collection dates, church and village hall details, local history, and parish council contact information.
What information we collect
The skill is designed to collect as little information as possible.
- First-visit indicator. We store a single, non-personal flag that records whether your Amazon account has opened the skill before. This is used only to decide whether to play the full introduction or a short welcome message. This flag is linked to the anonymous user identifier provided by Amazon and does not contain your name, email address, or any other personal detail.
- Spoken requests. When you speak to the skill, Amazon Alexa processes your speech and passes the recognised request to the skill so it can respond. The handling of your voice recordings is governed by Amazon’s own privacy policy (see below), not by us. We do not record or store your voice.
We do not collect or store your name, postal address, email address, telephone number, precise location, or payment details.
How we use information
The first-visit indicator is used solely to tailor the welcome message. We do not use any information for advertising, profiling, or marketing, and we do not sell or share information with third parties for their own purposes.
Third-party services
To answer certain questions, the skill retrieves publicly available information from third parties:
- Google Calendar — to provide upcoming village events.
- Huntingdonshire District Council — to provide bin collection dates.
These requests are made by the skill on your behalf and do not transmit any personal information about you to those services. Your use of information sourced from those organisations is subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
Where information is stored
The first-visit indicator is stored using Amazon Web Services (DynamoDB) infrastructure associated with the Alexa-hosted skill. Amazon processes and stores this data on our behalf.
Data retention
The first-visit indicator persists for as long as the skill is enabled on your account. If you disable the skill, associated data held by the skill may be removed in line with Amazon’s data handling for Alexa-hosted skills.
Your choices
- You can disable the skill at any time from the Alexa app or the Alexa website.
- You can review and delete your Alexa voice history in the Alexa app under Settings, or at Amazon’s privacy pages.
Children’s privacy
The skill provides general community information and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Amazon Alexa privacy
Your interactions with Alexa are also covered by Amazon’s privacy notices:
- Amazon Alexa Terms of Use and Privacy Notice:

Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted at this address with a revised “Last updated” date.
